General Counsel

Will Scrimshaw is BenevolentAI’s General Counsel, and is responsible for all legal, intellectual property (IP) and compliance matters. Since joining BenevolentAI in 2019, Will has established and grown the Company’s in-house legal function, which provides pragmatic and commercially minded legal advice on corporate and Board matters, corporate fundraising, commercial legal agreements, employment, IP, company secretarial, compliance and corporate governance.

Will is passionate about helping disruptive and purposeful businesses to navigate novel legal problems. Over his 20-year career he has held senior legal and policy positions at Microsoft, Skype and BT, where he played a key role in enabling growth through innovative approaches to law and regulation. Will studied Law at the University of Bristol, and then trained and qualified as a solicitor in the Intellectual Property & Technology practice of the London office of Norton Rose Fulbright.
