Translational Assay Scientist

The Role

We are looking for lab-based drug discovery scientists to join our translational assays and target engagement group within the in vitro biology team based at the Babraham Research Campus in Cambridge (UK). We are looking for in vitro translational assay scientists to develop disease relevant assays to support progression of drug discovery programmes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimise disease relevant in vitro translational assays for screening
  • Develop and perform target engagement assays
  • Accurately analyse and report data following standard operating procedures
  • Contribute to external collaborative relationships with academic leaders and contract research organisations.
  • Capture data using electronic lab books and databases such as Dotmatics
  • Write guidance documents and SOPs

We are looking for someone with

  • BSc, MSc or equivalent in biological sciences or a closely related discipline
  • Knowledge of neurodegeneration, inflammation, or cancer
  • Experience with cell culture including primary and/or immortalised cells, hiPSC cells, organoids, organ-on-a-chip or 3D cultures
  • Experience with ELISA, RT-qPCR, Western blotting, flow cytometry or high content imaging
  • Ability to work independently and also as part of a team
  • Ability to work across multiple projects and assays
  • Positive mindset to problem solving with the ability to work to deadlines
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
Nice to haves:
  • Drug discovery experience
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools, online omics database and RNASeq analysis preferred
  • Experience with Dotmatics, ABase or LIMS desired
  • Experience with automation is preferred
