The Role

We are seeking software engineers with an interest in machine learning to join our New York team to work closely with AI scientists, engineers, informaticians, and drug scientists. As part of your internship, you will work with machine learning models and systems for target identification, one of BenevolentAI’s core products, and utilize your software engineering skills to productize brand new research prototypes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Pursue a project that productizes machine learning based target identification prototypes by applying rigorous software engineering best practices.
  • Work as a member of a cross-functional team with specialists in informatics, engineering, AI, drug discovery and product for research and development.
  • You will participate in team activities on planning, discussing, and demonstrating capabilities of how to use AI for target identification.
  • You will discuss system design ideas with senior engineers in the team, on developing robust, reliable, and flexible systems to support machine learning R&D.

We are looking for someone with

  • A strong academic background, showcasing creativity and persistence in efforts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A BSc/BEng/BA (MSc/MEng/DPhil preferred) in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent commercial experience.
  • Strong programming skills, preferably in Python.
  • Experience with technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, Airflow, ETL pipelines, etc.
  • Strong interests in machine learning.
  • Bonus points for: 
  • Experience of development in cloud-native environment
  • Experience of development under production constraints
  • Experience with working with machine learning systems
