The Role

At BenevolentAI we are developing software systems to enable our machine learning, informatics, and drug discovery programmes. We are seeking two software engineers to join our London teams to apply their software engineering background and rigour to develop and execute a full project, working with more senior software engineers and the various teams within their product area.

Primary Responsibilities

We have one role available in each of the following two product areas: 

  • As part of the Knowledge product area, you will work together with other engineers, Informaticians, and AI scientists on orchestration pipelines for the ingestion and processing of scientific research.
  • As part of the Precision Medicine product area, you will work together with other engineers, Informaticians, and AI scientists on our internal omics processing pipelines.
  • You will pursue a project in our data processing pipeline systems by applying rigorous software engineering best practices.
  • You will discuss system design ideas with senior engineers in the team, on developing robust, reliable, and flexible systems.

We are looking for someone with

  • A strong academic background, showcasing creativity and persistence in efforts.
  • A BSc/BEng/BA in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent commercial experience.
  • Interest in data ingestion, text processing and scalable systems, involving technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, Spark, Spring.
  • Strong programming skills in Java or Python.
  • A problem-solving, impact-oriented mindset with a flexible approach to frameworks and technologies.
  • Non-essential but desirable experience in Vue.js, GraphQL.
  • Bonus points for interest in or contributions to open-source technologies.
