The Role

BenevolentAI harnesses artificial intelligence to accelerate scientific discovery by making sense of highly fragmented information to develop new medicines for hard to treat diseases, using AI as a force for good.

Based on a year of strong growth, further validation of the core AI technologies and the recent acquisition of laboratory space, we are recruiting a new Product Manager into the Cheminformatics area. As Product Manager for AIChemOpt, you will work with the Product Area Lead contributing towards defining the BenevolentAI Drug Discovery Cheminformatics strategy, identifying our Chemistry/Cheminformatics user needs and setting the product objectives of your team. We are keen to hear from Product Managers with experience working with AI/ML-focussed teams in spaces challenging for their uncharted nature, and with a proven track record building scientific products that create significant impact for their users.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leads the usage of our AI platform in disease programs, supporting our Medicinal Chemists and Computational Chemists with the introduction of technology in disease programs and captures user needs that help maximise the value and use of our products.
  • Responds to the Drug Discoverers needs from our Laboratory in Cambridge evangelising the use of our state of the art AIChem platform, ensuring our products are addressing the KPIs and maximising the connections between end-users and AI platform experts.
  • Manages multi-disciplinary squads responsible for the creation of solutions that directly impact our drug discovery programs.
  • Agile product management, leading and owning virtual screen product development and adapting the introduction of new functionalities in disease programs that follow different timelines.
  • Owns, prioritises and promotes the feature requests from Computational chemists and Medicinal Chemists to our AIChem Platform, introducing progressive improvements that maximise the value of our technology in drug discovery programs.
  • Supports our lead modellers managing the progress of disease programs and reports the progress to the Area Leads, escalating risks and driving any actions required.
  • Employs a user-driven approach to identify user needs and ensures senior stakeholders and the broader business understand the value of this approach.
  • Makes decisions on the AIChemOpt product level aligning with the AIChemOpt Product Area Lead, based on the knowledge of the wider platform and competitive advantage in/across the market.
  • Develops and maintains a solid foundation of market knowledge in the AI Drug Discovery area, proactively identifies potential issues/risks.

We are looking for someone with

  • A MSc in a STEM field
  • 2+ years experience as a Product Manager in a scientific environment
  • 5+ years experience in technical teams in relevant industries
  • Experience in biomedical sciences and Cheminformatics a definite plus
  • Experience leading technical teams with a strong AI/ML component
  • Experience in capturing complex user needs and improving user experience from multidisciplinary end users
  • Experience in a commercial and agile environment
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence at all levels inside an organisation
