Lead Machine Learning Engineer

The Role

As a Lead Machine Learning Engineer in the Precision Medicine team, you will be leading the development and deployment of machine learning models to decipher complex and heterogeneous disease biology from large-scale multimodal clinical and biological data, with a broad focus on representation learning and generative modelling. You will be working with drug discoverers, translational medicine scientists, bioinformaticians and software engineers in a highly collaborative environment to discover optimum therapeutic interventions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the transition of AI models from prototypes through to production systems
  • Lead the design and implementation of reusable and maintainable AI models for precision medicine.
  • Promote machine learning and software engineering best practices, such as scalable training and deployment, model evaluation and test-driven development.
  • Report and demonstrate the features and performance of ML models and the results of ML experiments to internal users.
  • Collaborate with domain experts to translate scientific ideas into ML products.

We are looking for someone with

  • 5+ years of industry or equivalent academic experience
  • Strong software engineering and machine learning engineering knowledge
  • Knowledge of Python and related data science and ML libraries (e.g. NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch and/or Tensorflow, Pandas)
  • Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker
  • Data Pipeline development experience
Nice to haves:
  • Strong scientific background
  • Familiarity with PySpark or other distributed frameworks
  • Experience working with genetics, genomics and clinical datasets
  • Familiarity with MLOps tools, e.g. Kubeflow
