IT Support Engineer

The Role

We are seeking a well rounded IT Support Engineer to lead our Cambridge site. You will be working on a range of different projects within our rapidly growing start-up environment adopting a wide range of technologies on the cutting edge. This role will involve taking ownership of the IT stack and taking it to the next level whilst maintaining and implementing new technologies. You'll be working across a variety of teams ensuring different levels of technical expertise is accommodated for.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ownership of datacentre and office networking equipment (Juniper routers and switches, Meraki) and hardware.
  • Setting up, configuring and supporting Cisco or Juniper firewalls and routers in an enterprise-level environment/ISP
  • IT Support for Windows systems (Windows Server 2012/2016, Windows 7/10).
  • Implementing monitoring of office and datacentre equipment.
  • Active Directory user management, policies and automation around onboarding and offboarding users.
  • Administration of cloud-based VOIP and video conference systems.

We are looking for someone with

  • An understanding of networking principles including TCP/IP, switches, WiFi and VPNs.
  • A good understanding of MacOS & Windows in a corporate environment, including hardware and software.
  • A keen interest in Cloud technologies and containerised environments.
  • A flexible approach to supporting cross-functional teams with varying technical knowledge.
  • Experience with supporting MS Office, sharepoint, GSuite.

Optional, but a net plus:
  • AWS and/or GCP experience.
  • MacOS, Linux and Mobile Device Management (MDM such as JAMF).
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and container technologies.
  • Experience implementing security frameworks and backup management projects.
  • Experience with Linux laptop maintenance and Linux server maintenance.
  • Working knowledge with one or more of the following services: Confluence, Jira, GitLab, Asana, Aha, Spoke, Impraise, Sage.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining Cloud based R&D applications in containerised environments (EKS), including migration into the Cloud (AWS).
  • Experience in implementing automation to streamline IT tasks (BetterCloud, Ansible, Scripting) with infrastructure as code.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with external vendors. (Gitlab, Atlassian, Apple, Amazon, MVS, Juniper)
  • Experience in managing multiple cloud environments (GSuite, Okta, O365, SSO, SAML) and inhouse systems.
  • Experience in maintaining of formal backup and disaster recovery strategy including regular testing.
