IP Portfolio Manager / IP Paralegal

The Role

We have an exciting opening for a commercially-minded & pragmatic IP specialist to join our Compliance, Legal & IP team and shape how we scale our support for the business. With prior experience of working in a high-growth technology or biotechnology company, you will know what to expect, relish the challenge, and be ready to hit the ground running.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Developing a deep understanding of our technology, research and development, and its application in order to facilitate internal IP awareness.
  • Assessing and harvesting innovation across all areas within the business.
  • Working closely with inventors to lead the invention capture process.
  • Liaising with external counsel and suppliers for IP-related activities.
  • IP portfolio asset management and administration.
  • Providing reports for various stakeholders in the business, particularly leadership and the board.
  • Competitive intelligence research and reporting.
  • Providing guidance and training on IP generally, as well as in the context of our business.
  • Supporting IP diligence activities throughout the innovation life cycle.

We are looking for someone with

  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject such as Physics/Theoretical Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or Electrical Engineering (preferably, your degree included modules focussed on Artificial Intelligence/machine learning, but this is not essential).
  • IP qualification and experience to demonstrate a firm grasp and application of IP concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively in an agile and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in being able to convey complex information across a breadth of backgrounds and functions within the company
  • Commercially-minded and able to prioritise the varied scope of work.
  • A positive approach to ownership of projects, learning and development.
  • Enthusiastic and confident about working independently as well as being part of a team.
