The Role

Data Science is at the heart of BenevolentAI, transforming our massive and complex biomedical data into valuable tools for drug discovery. As a Data Scientist Intern, you will work in a multi-disciplinary team of Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and AI scientists in our Knowledge group. You will apply your skills to build robust statistical frameworks and visualizations in order to rigorously understand and evaluate the quality of our data and algorithms for data extraction.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Write data pipelines in python and SQL to get from raw data to data that is ready to be analyzed for insights.
  • Work with your team to establish appropriate data quality controls, benchmarks, and meaningful performance metrics.
  • Design and implement data visualizations to better understand the performance of our products, models and systems in Tableau.
  • Engineer solutions in the context of well-maintained and well-documented code bases.
  • Communicate findings and results to your team.

We are looking for someone with

  • Strong in at least one programming language (including Python).
  • Strong understanding of statistical methods for data curation and analysis.
  • Experience working with data science tools for manipulating and visualizing data (such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, matplotlib, etc.)
  • A problem-solving, impact-oriented mindset with an agnostic approach to languages and technology.
  • Team oriented, able to thrive in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Knowledge of biology or chemistry, and experience working with biomedical data is a plus.
  • Prior experience with a dashboarding tool (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI etc.) preferred.
