With over 35 nationalities and a range of backgrounds represented in our Benevolent team, we aim to build an inclusive environment where our people can bring their authentic selves to work, be respected for who they are and the exceptional work they do. We welcome and actively encourage applications from all sections of society and are committed to offering equal employment opportunities regardless of sex, race, religion or belief, ethnic or national origin, marital, domestic or civil partnership status, sexual orientation, gender identity, parental status, disability, age, citizenship, or any other basis. We see our diversity as an asset as we tackle challenging problems that bridge the gap between drug discovery and technology.

The Role

We are looking for a number of enthusiastic and motivated drug discovery scientists to join our In Vitro Biology team focusing on assay development and screening. You will contribute to our technology-enabled drug discovery programmes, from hit identification through to pre-clinical. As a central member of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team of scientists passionate about reinventing the way new medicines are developed, you will bring your understanding of in vitro biological technologies and drug discovery to progress projects into clinical evaluation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Carry out relevant cell-based assays for medium to high throughput screening of novel therapeutic compounds to support pipeline projects.
  • Maintain cell cultures including cell lines, primary cells and/or iPSCs.
  • Generate detailed SOPs and follow assay protocols.
  • Critically analyse and interpret data, define realistic timelines for studies and meet delivery deadlines to execute high impact studies.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Support biochemical screening assays as needed.
  • Compound management.
  • General lab maintenance.

We are looking for someone with

  • BSc, MSc or equivalent in biological sciences or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience working in cell culture with immortalised cell lines desired. Bonus points for experience with primary cells, iPSCs, primary tissue and complex cultures (co-cultures or 3D cultures).
  • Experience with a range of cellular assays and technologies (such as ELISA, MSD, reporter gene, high content & live-cell imaging, flow cytometry).
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques (Western blotting and qPCR/PCR techniques).
  • Familiarity with electronic lab notebooks.
  • Ability to work independently and strong attention to detail.
Nice to haves
  • Industry research experience is preferred but not required
  • Experience with in vitro plate-based technologies (absorbance, fluorescence, TR-FRET, luminescence, etc).
